You can read the text, but I particularly like this week's recording. Such oomph!
I’ve experienced all of the above and (shocker!) sometimes I still do. But enough time on this planet has shown me that shutting up, getting angry and screaming louder aren’t the answers that’ll keep me on the path of fulfillment. I choose to keep showing up and keep doing my thang. The content and focus of what constitutes my thang may change, but what doesn’t alter is that I continue to show up.
How do you keep going at it when the mind chatter says, “You don’t have the results you should have had by now so give up”?
The mindshifting answer to this mind-chatter-bug came to me in visual imagery during a meditation last week. I was standing on a wooden pillar 6 inches in diameter about 15 feet off the ground in some unknown outdoor area. Crowds of people swarmed about below, as if we were all in a busy souq or bazaar, minus merchandise for sale. I was talking, sharing information, but no one stood around me. I felt like no one cared what I had to say.
I looked up and around me to find a vast sea of other folks on their own pillars as far as my eye could see. They too were speaking atop their 15-foot platforms. I recognized some well-known faces on these posts. These popular peeps had large crowds around them. Suddenly, one of these beacons floated down from her pillar, walked over to mine and began paying attention to what I was saying. Her crowd followed her and began listening intently to me as well.
After a while “Lady J” returned to her column, but some of her peeps stayed with me. I kept doing my thing and the crowd grew. I eventually had my own sizable crew. Some folks walked back and forth between Lady J and me. Some wandered over to other columns. Lady J and I simultaneously caught each others' eye in a brief instant. Without missing a beat of her message she winked and smiled.
As I looked around at all the information disseminators on their respective pillars I noticed a few things: Some hadn’t a single soul in the crowd standing around them; others had a handful while still others had what looked like hundreds around them. But it didn’t always stay that way because the size of the crowds morphed. What did remain a constant was that those on the columns continued to speak and do their thing. They may have stepped down from their posts to flow good vibes to others and mix up the energy from time to time, but they/we, always came back to our pillars and kept on spreading our messages. This all was truly an idea exchange marketplace.
:::End Scene:::
My takeaways from this visual are trust and consistency:
- If we are truly moved by a calling, always keep showing up and keep at it no matter what.
- Always discard the mind chatter of “It ain’t happening now so it never will.” Instead say, “Thanks for sharing, now I’m getting back to work.” Eventually everything transpires at the right divinely appointed time.
- Always trust in the process. You never know who will cross your path and whose path you will cross that will result in propulsion to the next level.
We’re all on a pillar of some sort in our respective fields, passions, desires, callings and hobbies.
When the doomsday voice comes a knocking, as it’s known to do from time to time, how will we react? Shall we keep on trucking or throw in the towel? I choose to keep moving forward. I hope you do too.
