You’re standing in front of a set of glass doors in the frozen food section of Ralphs. As you contemplate what you’ll have for dinner tonight, a young man with a warm sense about him taps you on the shoulder and says, “You have a really nice smile. I’m not hitting on you or anything, I just wanted to let you know.” Wouldn’t you walk around with a lighter gait after this encounter?
Think about how you feel when others uplift you. Now how often do you uplift others? Maybe a customer service rep puts you at ease with his calm and collected mannerism during a stressful situation. Or maybe, while on line at Starbucks, you’re creatively inspired by the person in front of you sporting uniquely fantastic fashion flair. If the thought crosses your mind to say something nice to someone, follow the hunch! Follow it especially when the critical part of you objects with, “Why bother. It won’t matter.”
You do matter. And it does matter. Be the person that spreads the good vibes. Allow yourself to be the catalyst for the high vib’ing domino effect with reaches you can’t even fathom. Interestingly enough, you’ll probably find that as you share all this good juju, you end up feeling pretty remarkable yourself. Not a shabby outcome.
Now, I dare you to uplift one person a day for the next 7 days. Don’t think about it. Just do it.
